Egypt Under-20 football team snatched the Africa Youth Championship 2013 (AYC) title, at the Ahmed Zabana Stadium, after edging past Ghana 5-4 on penalties.

The match ended 1-1 in regular time Saturday as Saleh Gomaa opened the scoring for Egypt on penalty (4th minute) and Jeremiah Arkorful equalised for Ghana on penalty too, four minutes later.
In a repeat of their opening Group A match in the tournament, the young Pharaohs shot into the lead as early as the fourth minute from the penalty spot after Richmond Nketiah fouled Mahmoud.
Saleh Ouda Gomaa stepped up to send goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi the wrong way and put Egypt in the driving seat.
The Black Satellites immediately rallied themselves and got the equaliser minutes later equally from the penalty spot when Moses Odjer headed attempt attracted a high foot offence.
Left back Jeremiah Arkoful stepped up to beat goalkeeper Mossad Awad and level scores for Ghana.
Both sides will later have their moments in the game but failed to capitalise on even after extra time leading to penalty shoots.
At 4-4 in the penalty exercise Egypt’s captain Rabia sent his kick wide handing Ghana the chance to claim the victory but Joseph Attamah’s effort was saved by Man-of-the-Match, goalkeeper Mossad Awad.
It is the fourth trophy for the Egypt U-20 team, after 1981, 1991 and 2003.
Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria and Mali, the last four teams, secured their berths in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup due in Turkey in 2013.
